Kawan Beach House and Sanctuary is located within a Protected Marine Area. Its name, Kawan, is short for Bakawan or mangrove, and the enclave is considered the center of the Mangal, the entire mangrove forest community.
The property is frequented by environmentalists, schools, and corporations on CSR missions that regularly conduct mangrove and coastal cleanup drives, mangrove seedling propagation activities, artificial coral and reef sponsorship, crab culture, and other programs that support the livelihood of the Lian Fisherfolks Association and nearby communities in partnership with the LGU, Barangay, MENRO, and Coast Guard.
